Bike to Work:

  • Women who bike 30 minutes a day have a lower risk of breast cancer.
  • An adult cyclist typically has a fitness level of someone 10 years younger and a life expectancy two years above the average.
  • Traffic congestion wastes nearly 3.9 billion gallons of gas per year in the U.S.
  • Cyclists on average live two years longer than non-cyclists and take 15% fewer days off work through illness.

Taking the Stairs:

  • Using the stairs requires no special skill, equipment, or clothing.  It burns twice as many calories as walking!
  • Even two flights of stairs climbed per day can lead to 6 pounds of weight loss over one year.
  • Climbing stairs can improve the amount of “good cholesterol” in the blood.
  • Stair climbing can help you achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.

Eating more Fruits and Vegetables:

  • Healthy diets rich in fruits and vegetables may reduce the risk of cancer and other chronic conditions.
  • It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef.
  • It takes 500 gallons of water to produce one pound of chicken.
  • Consider opting for a meat-free meal once each week, which can save 84,000 gallons of water per year!
