A
recent dip in temperatures is to blame for extensive
water damage to U.Va.’s
Peabody
Hall. Water that is brought
into Peabody Hall for heating
or
cooling
the fresh
air
ended up freezing, causing
several coils in the air intakes to burst. As
the ice thawed, water began pouring from the
ceiling. Some offices, including U.Va.’s Dean
of Students, have been moved to temporary
spaces within
Peabody
Hall. The full extent of the damage is still
being assessed. Full
story.

Distance
is not an obstacle when you’re a student in the
Venice program at U.Va.’s School of Architecture.
Using Internet technology, students
studying abroad in Venice, Italy were able to
keep connected
to U.Va. professors and students and to critique
and discuss their projects. The study abroad
experience has risen to a new level
and
fostered
“further
integration of technology into the curriculum,”
said U.Va. assistant professor Nicholas de Monchaux. Full
