The School of Medicine is offering its seven-week program on Thursday evenings, 7-9 p.m., March 25 through May 6. U.Va. Celebrates Black History Month

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the historic Brown v. the Board of Education case, which ended separate-but-equal Jim Crow laws. The above photo was taken in the first half of the 20th century by amateur photographer and education reformer Jackson Davis, one of nearly 6,000 depicting the poor conditions of African-American schools in the South and the need for improvement. Davis’ photos are now part of the U.Va. Library’s Special Collections. February marks the beginning of African-American History Month. U.Va.’s Office of African-American Affairs is sponsoring a wide array of events throughout the month. Extended calendar of events.
