M. Rick Turner is dean of the University of Virginia's Office of African-American Affairs. His title was misspelled a column in the Jan. 18 Commentary section.
Additionally, the version of the column submitted to The Daily Progress contained an error. The sentence should have read:

"We have not used selection quotas, and we abandoned our use of a point system four years ago."
