Financial Focus: Board Addresses Tuition, Maintenance Spending
 

HIGHER EDUCATION COMES with a high price tag, hence the inevitable — U.Va. tuition is going up. The tuition forecast for the next five years dominated discussion during the recent Board of Visitors session held Feb. 3 and 4. Board members expressed a consensus for a more conservative pricing plan that ties tuition to the total cost of education, and not to market value. Under such a plan, tuition could rise by 9.95 percent each year for the next five years — and possibly more, depending on the state’s funding commitments. Full story.
