Warner Appoints Three to U.Va.’s Board: Result is Most Governing Body Yet

WASHINGTON ATTORNEY Glynn D. Key, along with Bank of America-Virginia’s president G.S. “Sandy” Fitz-Hugh of Richmond, and W. Heywood Fralin of Roanoke, chief executive officer of Medical Facilities of America Inc., are Virginia Gov. Mark Warner’s latest additions to U.Va.’s Board of Visitors. The 17-member board displays a premium blend of talents, backgrounds and interests, making for the most diverse group ever. Full story.

Iran’s Outlook in 2004: Ramazani Discusses Issues Plaguing Regime

Although Iran celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Islamic Revolution in February, the regime will most likely continue to be faced with the same domestic and foreign policy issues that it has encountered since the revolution’s eruption in 1979, said R.K. Ramazani, U.Va. professor emeritus of politics. In his commentary, Ramazani examines the broader scope of some of these issues. Full story.

Cincinnati Couple Gives U.Va. $2.8 Million; Creates Endowment for Art History Program

columns at Fayerweather HallU.Va.’s highly-regarded art history program just got a substantial boost toward its goal of becoming among the best in the nation. Cincinatti couple Carl and Martha Lindner, whose daughter, Blake, is a fourth-year art history major at U.Va., have made a $2.8 million gift to the program, creating a permanent endowment. “Support of this magnitude from parents is a tremendous vote of confidence in the academic experience at the University,” said U.Va. President John T. Casteen III. Full story.
