U.Va.’s Department of Environmental
Sciences Moore Lecture, titled “Rapid
Climate Change in the Earth System: Present,
Past, and Future,” Thursday
in Clark Hall, Room 108, from 4 p.m.
to
5 p.m.
Refreshments
will be available at 3:30 p.m. A senior
research scientist with the Byrd Polar
Research Center, Thompson is one
of the world’s authorities
on the melting of glaciers and ice caps
as a

Johanna
Drucker, U.Va.’s Robertson Professor
of Media Studies shows visitors to the
Virginia Arts of the Book Center one
of the printmaking presses during an
open house that was part of the Virginia
Festival of the Book. At least 60 people
of all ages came by March 19 to watch
demonstrations, she said, in the new
location in the Frank Ix Building.
