THE
UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA is on the brink
of changes, but one thing that will
remain the same is the character and
quality of Thomas Jefferson’s
“great legacy.” In a letter to the

Restructuring Bill — the foundation
upon which U.Va. is developing goals
for strengthening higher education
throughout Virginia. Although there
remains much work to
be done,

the good work and dedication of all
members of the U.Va. community that
promises to carry Jefferson’s vision

Today
marks the opening of the ninth annual
Salmagundi Film Festival at U.Va. The two-day
event
features an eclectic array of films produced
by U.Va. students and a competitive shorts
program that screens both days. Prizes
will be awarded to the top three films
by an independent panel of judges. Sponsored
by the U.Va. FilmMakers Studio, the event
will be held in Newcomb Hall Theater. Full

organize Sustained Dialogue — a combination
of talking about issues of conflict, such
as race relations, finding solutions and
implementing them. Now, with 17 other schools
having joined the bandwagon, the “network” of
students and administrators from around
the country came together to discuss goals
during last week’s second annual
national Sustained Dialogue Campus Network
conference at U.Va. Full
