To
better protect employees’ personal
information, new prescription ID numbers
will be assigned to participants in the
University of Virginia’s health plan
effective May 1. The new ID numbers will
be used on the Pharmacare prescription
cards instead of social security numbers.
This change is part of U.Va.’s continuing
efforts to limit the use of employees’ social
security numbers and other personal information
where possible. Participants will receive
ID cards with new claims-processing information
at their home addresses. Prescriptions
that are submitted to the pharmacy using
the old ID numbers and plan information
will be rejected. For information, contact
the University’s Human Resources
Benefits Division at 924-4392.
