U.Va. Center Working to Redefine Alternative Medicine

Ann Gill Taylor (center)SOME PEOPLE MIGHT shy away when approached with health-care options such as alternative medicine or complementary therapy, associating them with old-time quackery. Doctors, nurses and other health professionals (including Ann Gill Taylor, center) at U.Va.’s Center for the Study of Complementary and Alternative Therapies are working hard to dispel that notion. U.Va. Appoints New Associate Athletics Director for Compliance

The U.Va. Athletics Department has named Jim Booz as associate athletics director for compliance. Booz held a similar post at Vanderbilt University for the last four years and has been a member of the athletics department staff at Vanderbilt since 1995. He will assume his duties at U.Va. on June 15. Full story.

Call for Nominations: Zintl Leadership Award

pavilion gardenThe U.Va. Women’s Center is accepting nominations for the seventh annual Elizabeth Zintl Leadership Award. Nominees must be women currently employed at U.Va. who display excellence in work that makes a direct impact on the core academic enterprise, and who demonstrate an unusually high degree of service to U.Va. The deadline for nominations is May 7. Full story.
