The
University of Virginia’s Darden School
of Business jumped to 1st place in the 2006 Financial
Times survey of executive education open programs.
The 8th annual survey of non-degree programs
moves Darden up from 2nd place in 2005 and 4th
place in 2004. “The entire Darden community
should celebrate this success, even as we strive
to do better, designing and delivering extraordinary
learning experiences to develop 'leaders in the
world of practical affairs,'" said David Newkirk,
Darden’s CEO for Executive Education. Full

Europeans
and Americans began collecting Oceanic art objects
in the 1770s. At the start of the 20th century,
artists began to draw inspiration from such objects,
in response in part to a Western quest for the
authentic. Drawing on the University of Virginia
Art Museum's collection of drums, masks and orator
stools, the exhibition “Art/Not Art: Made
in Oceania” will explore the intermediary
space where western connoisseurship meets native
arts — particularly examining the criteria
used to determine when a work is authentic and
when it is not. Full story.
