WOMEN
IN MEDICINE have not had an easy road to
travel. Times are changing however. Representative
of these changes are three U.Va. physicians
— Diane Snustad, Karen Rheuban and Laurel
Rice — who were honored by the National
Library
of Medicine in an exhibition that included

Motorists
traveling on Massie Road should expect delays
due to utility work scheduled to begin Monday
for the John Paul Jones Arena. Massie Road, from
the intersection with Copeley Road to the front
of the North Grounds Recreation Center, will
be closed to through traffic. The project is
expected to continue through July 2. Beginning
July 6, Copeley Road will be closed from the
intersection with Massie Road to the intersection
with Peyton Drive. Full

The
last time the planet Venus passed in front of
the sun was in December 1882. On Tuesday morning,
this rare occurrence — known as a transit — will
happen again. U.Va.’s astronomy department
will host
a viewing
event at The Park on North Grounds from 6 to
7:30 a.m. Eight to 10 telescopes will be in place
with safe solar viewing filters and astronomers
will be on hand to answer questions. Full
