The
University of Virginia McIntire School
of Commerce’s focus on building
the global skills of its students has
been sharpened thanks to a $2 million
gift
from
late McIntire alumnus Henry
Norwood Obear. The
Global Communicators Program, of which
the first elements were implemented in
the 2006 spring semester, is designed
to deepen student experiences in cross-cultural
communication
by allowing them to participate in intercontinental
virtual teams, supporting study-abroad
initiatives and enhancing coursework
designed to help students effectively
communicate with colleagues from different
cultural backgrounds. Full

A
Saturday night fireworks display high above
the Rotunda provided an exciting flourish
to Reunions Weekend, held on June 2-4 at
the University of Virginia. This year’s
reunion brought over 3,000 alumni
and guests back to the University, with one
individual coming from as far away as Sydney,
Australia. In addition to the first-time
fireworks display, the enhanced Reunions
program included numerous other academic
and social activities over the course of
the weekend. For more information, visit
the Reunions
Weekend Web site.
