CMC TelethonFOR THE FIRST time in its history, the U.Va. Children’s Medical Center telethon topped the $2 million mark. Members of the community once again showed their support, with pledges of nearly $160,000 phoned in during last weekend’s event. Local businesses showed their generosity with donations, some of which were raised from events including a Walk for Kids and a Children’s Ball and Dance Marathon. Employees of U.Va.’s Medical Center also opened their hearts with contributions totaling more than $20,000. For 20 consecutive years, the telethon has been anchored by local television station WVIR-NBC 29’s Dave Cupp (above) and Angell Husted. Full story.
