From Staff Reports
Robert
D. Sweeney, senior vice president for development and public
affairs, came to Saturday’s board meeting to lead a policy
discussion on philanthropy and laid out his strategy and vision
for the University’s next campaign — an ambitious
plan to raise $3 billion in private gifts for the University
of Virginia by 2011. The target is more than double the $1.4
billion raised during U.Va.’s last campaign, and it ranks
as one of the most ambitious set by any university in the nation
for a single fundraising campaign, according to University officials.
