The
Heart & Vascular Center at the University
of Virginia treats more than 35,000 inpatients
and outpatients each year. One of the goals
of the center is to make each patient’s
visit as comfortable as possible. With
capacity, integration and comfort in mind,
the center embarked on a four-phase expansion
project — of which Phase One was
completed in June — designed to provide
patients the full gamut of heart and vascular
care in a single location, within a healing,
soothing environment. A new, second-floor
bridge between U.Va.’s Heart & Vascular
Center and the Primary Care Center (above),
designed to significantly ease patients’ travel
between clinic visits and accompanying
diagnostic exams, is one of several additions
to the state-of-the-art center. When the
expansion is completed next year, the center’s
clinic and laboratory space will have tripled. Full
story.
