one of three ways:

There
are no restrictions on topics, within the bounds of good taste
and
legality, though the goal of the page is to promote the University’s
academic
expertise.
The page is intended to bring worthwhile opinion pieces to
the attention of the public, including journalists and
local, state
and federal policymakers. It is open to publication of opinion
essays that have been submitted or published elsewhere.
Additionally,
writers will retain copyright to work first published on
this site.
Submissions,
which may range in length from 500 to 1,500 words, will be published
at the discretion of opinion editor Charlotte
Crystal, senior news officer at U.Va. News Services. All
submissions accepted for publication will be edited for
clarity, style
and length. Pieces may be written by the authors themselves;
edited
or excerpted by U.Va. and affiliated foundation editorial
staff from longer pieces or lectures written by the authors;
or written
by U.Va. and affiliated staff after interviews with the authors.
