Dr. Dan Theodorescu

THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY estimates that nearly 233,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed this year in the United States, and that 30,350 men will die from the disease. U.Va. Health System researchers have been awarded a five-year grant for more than $6 million to investigate a cell signaling process that may help to explain the way that prostate cancer spreads. “This knowledge will hopefully lead to clinical trials that we can design and carry out at U.Va.,” said Dr. Dan Theodorescu, director of U.Va.’s Mellon Prostate Cancer Institute and principal investigator of this project.
