Stanford Architect David J. Neuman Named Architect for the University of Virginia

DAVID J. NEUMAN (left), the University Architect and Associate Vice Provost for Planning at Stanford University, has been named Architect for the University of Virginia. He succeeds Samuel A. (Pete) Anderson, who retired in May. “David Neuman comes to Charlottesville with an impressive background and range of experience in preservation and campus planning that align well with the needs of the University,” said U.Va. President John T. Casteen III, on making the announcement Tuesday. Full story.

U.Va. Designated as One of the Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals

The U.Va. Health System’s cardiology and heart surgery program has been selected as one of the nation’s 100 best, according to “100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success Study for 2003” by Solucient. “Being recognized as one of the top 30 teaching hospitals in the country for delivery of high quality and efficient care to heart patients is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of a team of physicians, nurses, technicians and support staff,” said Dr. George Beller, chief of cardiology. Drama Department Presents “The Way of the World”

U.Va.’s Drama Department will raise the curtain Thursday for its second production of the season — William Congreve’s restoration comedy, “The Way of the World,” being staged in Culbreth Theatre. The play offers a hilarious look at love, marriage and betrayal. Full story.
