‘On My Honor:‘ Report Spotlights Cheating Accusations
gavel

WHEN STUDENTS COME to the University of Virginia, they agree to abide by the Honor System, under which lying, cheating and stealing are grounds for dismissal. Still, there are some who violate this code of ethics. Faculty have released an anaylsis that suggests cheating often goes undetected or unreported. The report also reveals higher rates of honor accusations against African-American students, men, athletes and international students. Once formally accused, however, they are convicted at a rate consistent with that of the rest of the student body. So, what steps can U.Va. take reiterating the values of the Honor System? Full story.
