Nearly $1 Million in Grants Allocated for Low-Income Students Across Virginia

UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENTS from around the state can put away the notion that college is not in their future. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation announced Thursday that the University would receive $623,000 of nearly $1 million in grants to assist high-school students in their pursuit of a college education. “Hundreds of thousands of students across America from low-income backgrounds who have the academic wherewithal to go into postsecondary education never do,” said Matthew J. Quinn (left), executive director of the Foundation. Full story.
