Talks
Will Address Techniques and Impact of Magazines Annual Ranking
Of Colleges
Oct. 20, 1999 -- (The talk on Nov. 19 with
Amy Graham from U.S. News and World Report has been cancelled.)
Two talks at the University of Virginia will focus on U.S. News
and World Reports annual rankings of colleges and universities.
Ronald
G. Ehrenberg, the Irving M. Ives Professor of Industrial and Labor
Relations and Economics at Cornell University, will speak on the
impact of the rankings on admissions and pricing at selective private
institutions. His talk will begin at 2:30 p.m. in room 200 of Ruffner
Hall on Friday, Oct. 22.
Amy
Graham, director of research at U.S. News and World Report, will
discuss how the magazine computes the rankings during her talk on
Friday, Nov. 19. The talk will begin at 2:30 p.m. in room 200 of
Ruffner Hall.
Both
talks are part of an education policy seminar, a forum that addresses
current research.
The
talks are open to the public without admission charge.
