Architect William Wenk to Give Benjamin C. Howland Memorial Lecture

Wenk To Give Benjamin C. Howland Memorial Lecture The Department
of Landscape Architecture at the University of Virginia will sponsor
the annual Benjamin C. Howland Lecture on Friday, Oct. 29, at 12:30
p.m. in Campbell Hall. Denver-based landscape architect William
Wenk will speak about "Beauty, Function and the Civic Realm."
Environmental issues are at the forefront of Wenkıs landscape designs.
He works with engineers, architects and designers to integrate civic
spaces with other aspects of the city to create multi-functional
urban landscapes.
His firm is currently working on reclaiming an abandoned sewage treatment
plant as a park, the redevelopment of fragmented and transitional
neighborhoods, and the design of public open spaces as part of a
redevelopment of a former Air Force base.
