Darden School Names New Assistant Dean For Career Services
January
27, 2000 -- The University of Virginias Darden
Graduate School of Business Administration has promoted Anne Harris
from director of career services to assistant dean for career services.
"With
Annes leadership, we have increased the number of companies
that recruit students on grounds from 90 to more than 200, developed
a network of 400 companies that recruit off-grounds and seen the
average annual salary offered to our graduates rise by nearly 30
percent," said Dean Edward A. Snyder.
Harris
has strengthened relationships with corporate partners through such
initiatives as the newly established corporate advisory board, which
advises the school on the skills most in demand in the global marketplace.
She also has worked to integrate professional development into the
"Darden experience" and added full-time advisors to help students
refine their job-search techniques and tap into a network of more
than 1,200 alumni for career advice.
Harriss
priorities will include strengthening Darden's relationship with
Virginias high-technology community, especially in Northern
Virginia.
Harris
joined Darden as director of career services in 1995, after serving
as a human resources executive for Citigroup, Monsanto and ELSI.
She is a graduate of the University of Vermont and received her
masters degree from Cornell University.
