Presidential Historian Richard Neustadt to Speak at Groundbreaking for Miller Center's Thompson East Wing

October 27, 2000 -- The Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of a major building addition and renovation project at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27. The ceremony will honor Kenneth W. Thompson, former longtime director of the Miller Center, for whom the new East Wing will be named. 

The wing will house a new library and multimedia archive for the Miller Center's growing collection of research materials on the American presidency and political history. Prize-winning presidential historian Richard Neustadt of Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government will give the event's keynote address.  More than 200 guests are expected to join the Miller Center's Governing Council and staff at the groundbreaking.
