Stanley Trent Selected To Receive International Teaching Award

September 19, 2000 -- Stanley Trent, an associate professor in the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education, has been chosen by the Alpha Phi Foundation as its 2000 Professor of the Year.

Trent’s selection originated with a nomination by his U.Va. students. The international award is the only such honor given by a women’s academic society in recognition of outstanding undergraduate instruction.

A plaque and a $2,000 honorarium will be awarded to Trent, the third recipient of the annual award. Alpha Phi will also donate $1,000 to the University’s general scholarship fund.

Trent earned his B.S. in special education at Virginia State University in 1977, his M.Ed. at Temple University in 1979 and his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 1992.
