Stanley
Trent Selected To Receive International
Teaching Award
September
19, 2000 -- Stanley Trent,
an associate professor in the University of Virginias Curry
School of Education, has been chosen by the Alpha Phi Foundation
as its 2000 Professor of the Year.
Trents
selection originated with a nomination by his U.Va. students. The
international award is the only such honor given by a womens
academic society in recognition of outstanding undergraduate instruction.
A
plaque and a $2,000 honorarium will be awarded to Trent, the third
recipient of the annual award. Alpha Phi will also donate $1,000
to the Universitys general scholarship fund.
Trent
earned his B.S. in special education at Virginia State University
in 1977, his M.Ed. at Temple University in 1979 and his Ph.D. from
the University of Virginia in 1992.
