Expert On Gender In American Art To Lecture At The University Of Virginia

April 4, 2000 -- Bailey van Hook, a nationally recognized authority on the subject of gender in American Art, will lecture on "The Virgin and the Dynamo: Modernity and Gender in Turn-of-the-Century American Painting" at the University of Virginia at 5:30 p.m. on April 13 in Campbell Hall, Room 160.

Van Hook, associate professor of art history at Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State University, is author of "Angels of Art: Women and Art in American Society, 1876-1918."
