Wind Ensemble to Perform Nov. 3
Nov.
3, 2000 -- The McIntire Department of Music at the
University of Virginia presents the U.Va. Wind Ensemble, Friday,
Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Cabell Hall Auditorium.
The
Wind Ensemble is directed by Dwight Purvis. The Wind Ensemble, composed
of 80 talented students from the University, will perform a challenging
and varied program. Selections include Rocky Point Holiday by Ron
Nelson, Claude T. Smith's Eternal Father, Strong to Save, an arrangement
of the navy hymn, The Final Covenant by Fisher Tull, and David R.
Holsinger's To Tame the Perilous Skies. Holsinger's piece was commissioned
by the 564th Tactical Air Command Band under the direction of Commander/Conductor
Lieutenant Colonel Lowell Graham.
Tickets
are $6 for general admission, $4 for students and 4 ARTS$ for U.Va.
students. Tickets are available at the Cabell Hall Box Office at
