Anne Barriault is an alumna of the University of Virginia and completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Art in 1985.

She is the author of "Spalliera Paintings of Renaissance Tuscany: Fables of Poets for Patrician Homes," published by the Pennsylvania State University Press in 1994.
