Hooks'
talk, titled "New Visions," is sponsored by the Curry School of
Education Community Committee, the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities,
Forum for Contemporary Thought, Women's Center, School of Architecture,
Office of African American Affairs and Carter G. Woodson Institute
of Afro-American and African Studies.
Hooks
is a distinguished professor of English at City College in New York.
Her books include "All About Love: New Visions," "Art on My Mind:
Visual Politics," "Ain't I a Woman," "bell hooks' Engaged Pedagogy,
Where We Stand," and "Class Matters."
The
talk is free and open to the public. It is one of about 200 events,
including readings, panel discussions and book signings, scheduled
during March 23 - 25 throughout Charlottesville.
