New
York Artist Nina Bovasso To Exhibit At Fayerweather Gallery
February
22, 2001-- The University of Virginias McIntire
Department of Art will present an exhibition, "Works on Paper,"
by visiting New York artist Nina Bovasso in Fayerweather Gallery,
beginning with an opening reception on March 2, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The show runs through March 30.
Bovasso
will lecture on her work Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in Campbell
Hall, Room 160.
Fayerweather
Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and
from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The
majority of Bovasso's works are acrylic on paper, ranging from small
intimate
drawings to oversized pieces. Simple graphic and textured marks
combined with a colorful palate create a clustering and dispersal
of pattern-filled movement.
A native
of New York, Bovasso has exhibited nationally and internationally
and is currently in a solo show at New Yorks Clementine Gallery.
Her work has been reviewed in Artforum, Art in America, the Los
Angeles Times, the New York Times, and Flash Art, and has been reproduced
in the New Yorker magazine.
She
is a visiting artist during the spring semester in the McIntire
Department of Art, where she is teaching drawing and painting.
