Leading Virginia Economists To Discuss State, Regional And National Outlook

March 12, 2001-- Three noted Virginia economists will discuss "The Economic Outlook for the Nation, State and Region" at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at the opening session of the Virginia Association of Economists’ annual meeting at the Charlottesville Doubletree Hotel.

The three speakers are professor John Knapp of the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service; professor Roy Pearson of the College of William and Mary; and Christine Chmura, a private economic forecaster and analyst based in Richmond.

They are longtime observers of the state’s economy. Their discussion will cover the state's current general-fund revenue outlook.

Some 75 economists from colleges, universities and businesses around the state are expected to attend the two-day meeting.
