Of Virginia Art Museum Invites The Public To Special Family Weekend
Tour Oct. 27 And Reception Nov. 2
October
23, 2001-- In conjunction with Family Weekend, on
Saturday, Oct. 27, the student docents of the University of Virginia
Art Museum invite students, parents, and friends to enjoy complimentary
tours of the museum beginning at 4 p.m., with a reception following
at 5 p.m.
On
Friday, Nov. 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the public is invited to
attend the monthly First Friday reception held at the museum. The
reception offers hors doeuvres and beverages in the atmosphere
of the museums most recent exhibitions, "Masquerades" and
"Hero Sandwiches." Both exhibitions are in conjunction
with the 2001 Virginia Film Festival. "Masquerades" features seldom-seen
works from the museums permanent collection. "Hero Sandwiches"
is a series of digitally manipulated photographs by multimedia
artist Lynn Hershman. A third exhibit is "Singular Visions: Folk
Art from Charlottesville Collections." The reception is free of
charge to museum members. Admission is $3 for guests and non-members.
The
University of Virginia Art Museum is located on Rugby Road, a short
distance from the Rotunda. The museum is open to the public without
charge, Tuesday through Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. Limited parking is available
behind the museum for visitors. Additional parking will be available
for this event in the A6 lot, opposite the museum on Rugby Road.
