The
University Of Virginia Art Museum Will Hold "Masquerades" Family
Workshop Nov. 4 October 26, 2001-- WHAT: Family Workshop: "From Inside Out/Shadow Selves" WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 4, 2-4 p.m. WHERE: University of Virginia Art Museum, Rugby Road, Charlottesville A family workshop titled "From Inside Out/Shadow Selves," will explore the theme of masquerades. The program will focus on works from the exhibition "Hero Sandwiches" by Lynn Hershman and "Masquerades," an exhibition drawn from the museum's permanent collection in conjunction with the Virginia Film Festival. Both exhibitions are on view through mid-December. The hands-on workshop will focus on ideas of masking, transforming, and concealing and the art technique of mixed media collage. Participants will create collaged photocopied images of themselves with an image in a masked or created identity. The workshop is free and is suitable for adults and children above the age of four. The program is informal and participants may arrive at any time from 2 to 4 p.m. Advance registration is required.
