The
University Of Virginia Art Museum Will Hold "Masquerades" Family
Workshop Nov. 4

A
family workshop titled "From Inside Out/Shadow Selves," will explore
the theme of masquerades. The program will focus on works from the
exhibition "Hero Sandwiches" by Lynn Hershman and "Masquerades,"
an exhibition drawn from the museum's permanent collection in conjunction
with the Virginia Film Festival. Both exhibitions are on view through
mid-December.
The
hands-on workshop will focus on ideas of masking, transforming,
and concealing and the art technique of mixed media collage. Participants
will create collaged photocopied images of themselves with an image
in a masked or created identity. The workshop is free and is suitable
for adults and children above the age of four.
The
program is informal and participants may arrive at any time from
2 to 4 p.m. Advance registration is required. Call the museum's

The
University of Virginia Art Museum is located on Rugby Road, a short
distance from the Rotunda. There is a small parking lot for visitors
behind the museum.
