The Bayly Art Museum invites individuals, groups and organizations to create a still-life floral arrangement in response to selected works of art on view at the museum. The museum conducts this unique celebration of art and flowers in support of Historic Garden Week in Virginia, April 21-28. For more than ten years the Bayly has held this event.

Participants may choose to interpret some of the museum’s special collections, including "Conversation with Igun: Sculpture by Melvin Edwards," "Surely We Are Essential: Images of Nursing in the 20th Century," and "Galactic Journal: Recent Paintings and Collages by Robert Reed." Arrangements are displayed in close proximity to the works of art they reflect.

Refreshments will be served all day. Following the buffet dinner, visitors will vote on their favorite pieces and the winners will be announced. Dinner is $20 for museum members and $25 for non-members.

Those interested in creating an arrangement or attending the dinner should contact event chair Anne May Bowen at (804) 296-8846 or the Bayly Art Museum at (804) 924-3592. Parking is available in the Culbreth Theater A9 lot and the A6 lot off Rugby Road.

The Bayly Art Museum, a wheelchair-accessible facility, is open without charge Tuesday-Sunday, 1-5 p.m. Limited parking is available behind the museum, located on Rugby Road. To find out more about the Bayly, visit the museum Web site at http://www.virginia.edu/~bayly/.
