Art Museum Hosts Two Events In Conjunction With Exhibit: The Art
Of John Dos Passos

events will be in the Bayly Art Museum, University of Virginia, Rugby
Road, Charlottesville
In
conjunction with the exhibit, "The Art of John Dos Passos," U.Va.'s
Bayly Art Museum will hold two events in the museum. On Friday,
Sept. 7, the museum will host a reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Parking
is available in the Culbreth Theater lot.
Roger
Stein, U.Va. professor emeritus and an expert in American art and
culture, will give a gallery talk on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2 p.m. Parking
is available behind the museum and in the Culbreth Theater lot.
Best
known as a major literary figure from the 1920s through the 1940s
with such books as "Three Soldiers" and "Manhattan Transfer" as
well as a social revolutionary, John Dos Passos pursued a concurrent
career as a visual artist.
"The
Art of John Dos Passos" was organized by International Arts &
Artists in conjunction with the Dos Passos estate. Its presentation
at the Bayly Art Museum is supported in part by the Museum's Volunteer
Board.
The
Bayly Art Museum is open to the public without charge Tuesday through
Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. The museum is located on Rugby Road, a short
distance from the Rotunda. A small parking lot for visitors is located
behind the museum.
