Architect J Parrish, Concept Designer Of Australian Olympic Stadium,
To Speak At U.Va.
February
14, 2001-- J Parrish, a proponent of computers as
the ultimate design tool, will give a Deans Forum Lecture
titled "Stadium Australia and Other Projects" at the University
of Virginia School of Architecture on Friday, Feb. 23. The talk
at 5 p.m. in Campbell Hall, Room 153 is open to the public.
Parrish,
an associate of Ove Arup & Partners International Ltd. in London,
was project architect with Lobb Partnership for the Olympic Sports
Stadium in Sydney, Australia, the largest modern stadium in Olympic
history. The project was conceived entirely on the computer, with
no sketches or drawings, and was totally dependent on 3-D computer
modeling. Architects and engineers communicated by phone, fax and
e-mail and had no face-to-face meetings during the course of the
project.
