New Short Film "Upheaval" To Be Screened At U.Va.

• WHAT: Screening of the short film "Upheaval," followed by panel discussion
• WHEN: Monday, April 9, 7:30 p.m.
• WHERE: Campbell Hall, Room 158, University of Virginia
• ALSO: Panel discussion by Itamar Kubovy, director; Affonso Goncalves, film editor; Julian W. Connolly, professor of Russian literature; Johanna Drucker, Roberston Professor in media studies; Richard Herskowitz, director of the Virginia Film Festival

Based on a Chekhov short story, "Upheaval" follows a young married couple as an argument about a missing heirloom brooch leads to the exposure of a deeper crisis in the marriage.

The film, which stars Frances McDormand ("Fargo," "Almost Famous"), James Urbaniak ("Henry Fool"), and David Chandler ("The Gray Zone"), has been selected as the opening short film of this year’s Lincoln Center/ Museum of Modern Art "New Directors/New Films" Festival.

"Upheaval" director Itamar Kubovy and editor Affonso Goncalves will be at the screening to introduce the film and participate in the panel discussion.

The event is free and open to the public.
