Virginia Public Service Week May 7-13 
April 20, 2001-- As part of the state’s celebration of Virginia Public Service Week, to be observed May 7-13, the University is seeking classified employees to attend the Governor's Celebration and Award Ceremony in Richmond on May 8 as an "Ambassador" to the festivities. Any University classified employee who would like to sign up for selection to attend this program must complete the "Ambassador Form" and submit it directly to the state Department of Human Resource Management by close of business April 23. Thirty-five applicants from across Virginia will be selected to attend the ceremony, with travel expenses will be paid by the state. In addition, each state agency has been asked to nominate employees for Governor's Awards. The University plans to submit those nominated for its annual Outstanding Contribution Awards for consideration for the Governor's Awards, said Chief Human Resource Officer Thomas Gausvik.
