Art Museum Presents Panel Discussion On William Blake Feb. 21

WHAT: Panel
discussion - "Blake, the Book, and the Word as Art"
WHEN: Thursday, Feb. 21, 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Campbell Hall, Room 153
The University of Virginia Art
Museum will sponsor a panel discussion, "Blake, the Book, and
the Word as Art" on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 5:30 p.m. in Campbell
Hall, Room 153. The discussion is in conjunction with the special
exhibition "Portions of the Eternal World: Prints by William
Blake" on view at the museum through March 31.
The panel will feature U. Va.
professors Johanna Drucker and Jerome McGann, in addition to Joseph
Viscomi, professor of English Literature, University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill and editor of the William Blake Archive at U.Va.
Viscomi is currently working
on the second volume of "Blake and the Idea of the Book"
which examines the various ways that Blakes technique relates
to his poetry and designs.
After the panel discussion, Stephen
Nachmanovitch will present a computerized visual music work based
on William Blake titled "Job Returns."
