Exhibition:
"Flowers Interpret Art"
In
conjunction with Garden Week in Virginia, "Flowers Interpret
Art" will be held Tuesday, April 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
at the University of Virginia Art Museum. The museum invites individuals,
groups and organizations to create a still-life floral arrangement
in response to a work of art on view in the museum. On April 23,
visitors can vote on their favorite arrangements, which will be
displayed near the works of art that inspired them. Refreshments
will be provided by the Museums Gallery Guild.
In
the past, entries have been received from school groups, community
centers, sororities, and garden clubs, as well as individuals. For
inspiration, participants may select from works in the museums
permanent collection galleries or from the museums special
exhibitions:
"Treasures
from the Earth: Art of Southwestern Native America," "Ten
Works by Ten Painters: A Portfolio of Screenprints," and "Art
Beyond the Classroom: Selections from the Curriculum Support Exhibition."
