Art Museum Announces First Friday Reception And Gallery Talk By
Dean Dass
February 13, 2002-- On Friday,
March 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the public is invited to attend
the monthly First Friday reception held at the University of Virginia
Art Museum. The reception offers hors doeuvres and beverages
in the atmosphere of the museums new exhibitions: "Pace
Setters at Mid-Century: Three New York Art Galleries," "See
America First: The Complete Graphic Works of H.C. Westermann,"
and "Portions of the Eternal World: Prints by William Blake."
The
reception is free of charge to museum members. Admission is $3 for
guests and non-members. Parking will be available in the Culbreth
Theatre lot.
On
Sunday, March 3, at 2 p.m., the museum will host a gallery talk
by Dean Dass. He will discuss the special exhibition, "See
America First: The Complete Graphic Works of H.C. Westermann,"
on view through March 31.
Dass,
a printmaker and University professor, will examine Westermanns
prints in terms of how they were made technically and how that relates
to his better known sculptural works.
For
the gallery talk, additional parking will be available in the A6
lot, opposite the museum on Rugby Road.
