The
public is invited to a First Friday reception at the University
of Virginia Art Museum on June 7, at 5:30 p.m.
Featured
will be three of the museums recent exhibitions, "Treasures
from the Earth: Art of Southwestern Native America," "Ten
Works by Ten Painters: A Portfolio of Screenprints" and "Art
Beyond the Classroom: Selections from the Curriculum Support Fund."
"Treasures
from the Earth" contains pottery, baskets, textiles and jewelry
made by southwestern Native Americans. "Ten Works by Ten Painters"
features screenprints by contemporary artists such as Andy Warhol,
Frank Stella and Robert Motherwell. "Art Beyond the Classroom"
underscores the significant impact the Curriculum Support Fund has
had both on the Art Department and on the rich development of the
museums collections. All three exhibitions are drawn from
the museums permanent collection.
The
reception is free of charge to museum members. Admission is $3 for
guests and non-members.
Parking
will be available in the Culbreth Theater parking lot.
