Lubin, an expert on American art and culture, will give the keynote
address at the Art History Graduate Association annual symposium
at the University of Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 9. Lubin will speak
at 3:45 p.m. in Campbell Hall, Room 160.
Lubin’s
talk, “Shooting a President: JFK and the Cult of Images,”
will focus on photographs of John and Jacqueline Kennedy that chronicle
their lives from their public courtship in 1953 to Kennedy’s
death in Dallas in 1963.
Lubin
is the author of “Act of Portrayal: Eakins, Sargent, James;”
“Picturing a Nation: Art and Social Change in Nineteenth-Century
America;” “Titanic” and his latest book, “Shooting
Kennedy.”
