Thom Mayne,
a founding member of the Southern California Institute of Architects
and a co-founder of the architectural firm Morphosis, will give
a lecture on Oct. 11, 5 p.m. in Campbell Hall.
The lecture,
“The New Federal Courts Building, Eugene, Ore.,” will
be accompanied by an exhibit of three projects for the General Services
Administration. The exhibit, “Recent GSA Buildings,”
will include designs for the San Francisco Federal Building, the
Federal Courts Building in Eugene, Ore. and the National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Administration Building in Washington, D.C.
Mayne’s
work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. He has received
numerous honors and awards including the Rome Prize Fellowship,
the 1996 Alumni of the Year from the University of Southern California,
the 1992 award in architecture from the American Academy of Arts
and Letters, the 2000 American Institute of Architects Los Angeles
Gold Medal, and a recent Progressive Architecture Award for the
Vintage Car Museum in West Los Angeles.
