The
University of Virginia
Art Museum is expanding the benefits it offers members. The
range of benefits and privileges for various levels of membership
includes reciprocal privileges at more than 100 museums across the
country, discounts on various fine arts magazines, discounts at
the University Bookstore and selected fine arts and humanities courses
at the Charlottesville branch of the School of Continuing and Professional
Studies.
At
the higher levels, members enjoy discounts at some of Charlottesvilles
premier restaurants, membership in the Virginia Festival Film Society
and artwork sponsorship opportunities.
Members
also receive invitations to special events, including the New Members
Reception in October, members-only travel opportunities and advanced
notice of programs and exhibitions in the museums biannual
newsletter.
Members
will be invited to the members-only reception on Friday, July 19,
for the special exhibition, "Sam Abell: The Photographic Life,"
featuring the work of the renowned National Geographic photographer
and Albemarle County resident.
The
museum is conducting a major membership drive in conjunction with
the exhibit. Expanded benefits are available to existing members
as well as those who sign up during the drive.
Annual
membership ranges from $35 for individuals and $60 for dual-family
memberships to $2,500 for the Directors Circle. University
students may join for free by visiting the museum Web site and e-mailing
their contact information. Gift memberships offer additional benefits,
such as illustrated books and color prints.
