Art Museum Presents Exhibition Of Work By Summer Arts Artists

On
Sunday, Aug. 17, the University of Virginia Art Museum will present
a special exhibition of work by 115 young artists
who participated in the Summer Arts @
the Museum program. Works will be exhibited throughout the museum.
At
2 p.m. Jennifer Van Winkle, director of Summer Arts, will give
a short presentation about the program’s activities and
visiting artists. Featured artists were educator and multimedia
artist Tim Rollins and his assistant Rick Savinon, composer
Judith Shatin and photographer Mary Motley Kalergis.
Included in the pieces on view will be black and white photographs
(group projects, documentary and portraiture), sculpture (abstract
and figurative-based)
and
prints (rubberblock, woodblock, etching and callographs).
In
addition, the day will include a sneak preview of the CD, which
includes recordings
of Summer Arts musical compositions created by
the young artists
at the Music
Resource Center with musician Rafael Oliver.
The
exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Refreshments
will be provided.
