WHAT:
Fourth Friday Receptions

The
University of Virginia Art Museum is trying an exciting new experiment,
switching their First Fridays to Fourth Fridays. Not only do Fourth
Fridays work well with the exhibition schedule, the change gives
faithful museumgoers the opportunity to enjoy First Fridays at Charlottesville’s
downtown galleries. The receptions are free for museum members and
$3 for non-members.
Exhibitions
on view during March’s Fourth Friday are “Masterworks
of African Art: Selections form the Collection” and “Political
Humor: A Tribute to Herblock.” Also on view, in the contemporary
gallery, are the museum’s new acquisitions of Joseph Cornell
boxes and collages.
The
University of Virginia Art Museum, located on Rugby Road, is open
and free of charge Tuesday through Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. The museum
is handicapped accessible, and limited parking is available to the
rear of the building.
