Art
historian, curator and critic Katy Siegel, will deliver a talk, “Art
and Money,” at the University of Virginia. Siegel’s lecture
will address a wide range of topics, from how artists tackle money
as both literal
and figurative subject matter to the role of the art market and funding
in artistic production and broad artistic movements.
Siegel’s
talk is a prelude to the Fringe Festival, an annual art exhibition
in conjunction with the Virginia Film Festival, whose theme this
year “$.”
Siegel
is an assistant professor of art at Hunter College, New York.
She frequently writes on technology,
art and culture for ArtForum
magazine and other publications.
