The
University of Virginia’s McIntire
Department of Art begins its fall lecture series with a talk, “The
Sorcerer’s ‘o’ (and
the Painter Who Wasn’t There),” by Andrew Ladis, professor
of art history at the University of Georgia. Ladis’ talk will focus
on the art of Giotto and a biography of the painter by Giorgio Vasari,
the Italian Renaissance
painter and architect who is best known for his writings on the lives
of Italian Renaissance painters.
Ladis
is an expert in the history of early Italian Renaissance painting.
He is the author and editor of several museum exhibition catalogs and
books, including
a four-volume collection on Giotto.
